5 Fashion Supplements from THE YOUNG LADIES' JOURNAL, 1896-1898
[London]: [E. Harrison], 1898. 1st edition, 1st printing. Paperback. Five fashion supplements taken from issues of THE YOUNG LADIES' JOURNAL (a British periodical for young women) spanning 1896-1898. Each supplement contains several color plates depicting women's fashions of the day; across the supplements, there is a total of 28 plates. A fascinating portfolio of late-Victorian dresses that perfectly capture the look of the Gay Nineties!
Includes the following supplements:
July 1896
March 1897
April 1897
July 1898
August 1898
All have age-toned pages with small closed tears on the edges due to years of page-flipping. Some darkening to the margins of the covers as well. On the April '97 supplement, the brittle paper is starting to crack along the sewn binding, and one plate is detached. Large closed tear on back of August '98 supplement has been repaired with clear tape that has left a stain. Good condition overall, considering their age. The images of the cresses themselves are still vivid and well-suited to framing and display. Item #326289
Each supplement measures approx. 12.75" x 8.5"
