ORIGINAL PHOTO ALBUM OF ISRAEL
Ring_bound. Original, one-of-a-kind photograph album of the state of Israel. Contains 60 black and white photographs taken sometime after the 1967 war, but probably before the Yom Kippur War of 1973. The photographer is unknown. The album itself is a vintage faux-leather binder measuring about 14.25" x 11.75".
The photographs each measure 8" x 10" and are on glossy photo paper, each neatly glued to its own sheet and captioned by hand on the facing page. The photos are quite nicely done, apparently the work of a skilled amateur, and depict modern buildings, ancient ruins, iconic religious sites, landscapes, etc.
The photos are preceded by a section of 12 maps (obviously clipped out of an atlas or book of some kind) depicting Israel at various points in history; the anonymous compiler states in a prefatory note that the maps "indicate that three times in history Israel had secure and defensible borders." Evidently the compiler was more interested in Israeli history and 20th-century conflict than in tourism or pilgrimage.
Condition is FINE. Except for very mild toning to the edges of the pages, the album is practically like new. Occasional glue stains bleeding through the pages (but not the photos themselves). All photos are still fully and securely mounted. Item #325153
Price: $50.00
