Black Elk (1863-1950) was a Lakota medicine man who fought alongside Crazy Horse at the Battle of Little Bighorn. He later converted to Catholicism while retaining some of his Lakota spiritual practices. He was declared a Servant of God in 2016. This book, a collaboration with the influential ethnologist Joseph Epes Brown, specifically deals with Lakota Sioux religious rites.
