1640. Disbound. 86p. DISBOUND. A book that lacks its covers and spine, but is otherwise complete. Pieces of binding thread still attached to the spine. Title page lightly toned and very faintly stained. Top corner of title page is chipped off, and the first several pages have bent bottom corners. Underlining in red pencil and occasional marginal notes, all by a very early owner. Still easily readable, albeit fragile. Item #319740

Rare tract in Latin published during the Thirty Years' War. Frederick I, King of Bohemia, was the Elector Palatine (as Frederick V) until 1623, when an Imperial edict removed him from the position and replaced him with Maximilian I of Bavaria. Frederick died in 1632, after which his widow sought to have their eldest surviving son, Charles Louis, installed as Elector Palatine. This tract attempts to refute the claims of Charles Louis to the Electoral Palatinate; however, he would ascend to the position in 1648 according to the terms of the Treaty of Westphalia. OCLC #159905366. No author, place, or publisher stated.
