VINTAGE PHOTOGRAPH OF THE DAYTON, OHIO CHAPTER OF THE KNIGHTS OF ST. JOHN
Original black and white photograph of a Dayton, Ohio, chapter of the Knights of St. John, ca. 1920. The men are in full uniform and standing at attention in an outdoor setting, with trees, a line of buildings, and a few unidentified observers in the distance.
The photograph is neatly backed with plain cardboard. The total dimensions are approximately 10.25" x 8.25". The image itself is remarkably sharp, except for a bit of blurriness around the flag held aloft by one of the Knights.
Condition is very good. The photograph itself is fully intact --- no chipping or tears --- but there is a faint sheen of soiling and rubbing over the entire image, not enough to mar the overall quality but enough to provide a vintage "look." There is a thin, vertical streak of gray in the lower left area, about 3 inches long. There is also a dime-sized white stain at the top edge, straddling the photograph and the cardboard border. The back of the cardboard has a deep scrape along the bottom which does not penetrate as far as the photograph on the other side. The cardboard is also flecked with light stains and smudges. Taken as a whole, the photograph itself is well preserved and still suitable for display. Item #319636
