AUTOGRAPH NOTE FROM ADMIRAL WILLIAM SIMS Praising the Boy Scouts of America
Newport, RI: 1928. A small slip of cardstock containing a brief handwritten note from William Sims (1858-1936), Rear Admiral of the U.S. Navy who distinguished himself in World War I as commander of the American naval forces in Europe.
The note is dated March 15, 1928 and is addressed to a "Mr. Davis," praising the Boy Scouts of America as "one of the most useful [organizations] for the training of boys that has ever been devised" and expresses the hope that this Mr. Davis becomes a scout leader someday. The note is in a very small, but very neat cursive hand using black ink, and Sims signed the note at the bottom, "Wm. S. Sims." The card measures about 3" long x 1.6" wide.
