The new cover is in fine condition. The endpapers are covered with early owners' notes and scribbles. The bottom corner of the title page is torn off. First edition of an important work on the War of 1812. William Hull (1753-1825) was a Revolutionary War veteran and a general in the War of 1812. He was court-martialed and sentenced to death for his surrender of Fort Detroit to the British, but eventually pardoned by President James Madison. Howes H-780.
