Contains reporting on the ongoing Land War in Ireland over the demands of tenant farmers; the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition; a multi-part article on the life of Kaiser Wilhelm I; a fire at the Salle Favart (Opera Comique); and the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Also contains installments of THE CRUSADE OF THE EXCELSIOR by Bret Harte. Among the many fine engravings are a two-page spread showing a chariot race; a two-page spread of Sandringham estate; a folding plate of Napoleon on horseback looking at the Sphinx; a folding plate of Cleopatra lounging on a boat; engravings of the crown jewels of France; a color plate of Queen Victoria receiving royal visitors for her Golden Jubilee; color plates of four-in-hand coaching teams; and a foldout portrait of Queen Victoria.
