London: R. Ackerman, 1828. Hardcover. 325p; 10p advertisements in back. A hardcover book bound in its original grey-tan boards with the spine covered in light blue paper, featuring the original spine label. The spine has lots of vertical cracks along old crease lines; it has been delicately repaired, but is still fragile, so the book ought to be handled with care. The boards are faintly speckled and chafed, and the corners are lightly bumped. Foxing inside, most heavily on the endpapers, plus occasional fingerprint smudges. One-inch closed tear in the half-title page. The plates have faded onto the facing pages. Ink markings on the back of the plate facing page 182. Otherwise, text unmarked and binding secure enough for handling, though weakened by the aforementioned damage. Comes is a custom box covered in burgundy cloth, which is staring to split at the corners but is still sturdy and protective. Item #177102

RARE in the original boards! Illustrated with 24 color plates (LACKS A PLATE facing page 199 that is mentioned in the index of plates). Contains the bookplate of Walter Ambrose Harding of Madingley Hall. Abbey Travel 450; Prideaux 308-9, 334, and 377; Schwerdt I p. 149; Tooley 186.
