Edinburgh: Cadell & Company, 1829. Leather. 48 vols. A complete set of 48 hardcover books, with the spines and corners bound in contemporary burgundy morocco. The boards and endpapers are marbled. Very good condition across the set. The edges are rubbed and the spines just a bit faded. The endpapers are foxed (as are some inner pages) and the frontispieces have faded onto the title pages. Black ink smudge in the top margins of pages 22-23 in volume 7. Stains on page 184-185 of volume 15; pages 88-89 of volume 20 (the latter renders some of the text illegible and has a small tear repaired with old tape); pages 310-311 of volume 26; page 402 of volume 32; pages xx-xxi of volume 35; and pages 128-129 in volume 41. Light dampstaining to page edges of volumes 46 and 47. Otherwise, the text itself is unmarked and the binding secure across the set. Externally attractive, uniform condition for their age, ideal for the collector! Item #177009
