London: Chapman and Hall Limited, 1929. Hardcover. 40 vols. A complete set of 40 hardcover books bound in navy blue, gilt-embellished cloth WITH THE RARE DUSTJACKETS. Good+ to very good condition across the set. The hinges were cracking in volume I, but have been repaired. The covers are clean apart from some light rubbing, the text is unmarked, and the binding is secure for normal handling in all volumes. The jackets have lots of little closed tears, light stains, and chipping along the edges; there are a few larger tears here and there, plus some unobtrusive, speckly stains; however, all the jackets are in one piece. Small scribble on the spine of the jacket on GREAT EXPECTATIONS. Stain in the middle of PICKWICK PAPERS volume II, penetrating through to the front cover of the book itself. A sturdy, uniform set, ideal for the Dickens collector. Item #177007
