ILLUMINATED LATIN MANUSCRIPT LEAF FROM THE 15TH CENTURY Taken from a Book of Hours

A small vellum page taken from a medieval Book of Hours. The text is in Latin, mostly in black ink, with a few words in red, and ornately illuminated capital D's in red and blue. The leaf is two-sided, with both sides having similar design and quality. The colored ink is still quite vivid. The black ink on the front-facing side is faded toward the bottom, but still legible. The vellum is smooth and quite clean for its age, only a bit aged-looking. Near-fine condition with no tears --- a beautiful, fascinating artifact of religious writing from the Middle Ages! Item #175660

Produced ca. 15th century and neatly mounted for display between two pieces of off-white cardboard. The manuscript page itself measures approx. 4.7" x 3.5"

Price: $400.00
