A classic early biography of George Washington, with a portrait frontispiece. The author, David Ramsay (1749-1815) was an early American historian of the Revolutionay War. He was also a Congressman and physician, and was eventually killed by a deranged patient of his; as a result, he is regarded as the first U.S. politician to be assassinated.
