A hardcover book rebound in 3/4 brown leather with marbled boards, retaining much of the original gilt-decorated leather spine. The boards are scuffed, as is the bottom of the spine. The front free endpaper is chipped along the edges. Occasional light foxing, most visibly near the end, but otherwise, pages clean and binding tight. Very good condition overall. Item #174093

The captivity memoir of John Dunn Hunter (1796-1827), who was kidnapped as a child by the Kickapoo Indians. He later helped lead the Fredonian Rebellion, an early attempt by whites in Texas to secede from Mexico. He died during the conflict.
