London: Hurst and Blackett, 1865. First English Edition. Leather. 2 vols. 313p; 326p. A handsome set of two hardcover books bound in 3/4 red leather with red cloth boards. The spines are ornately decorated in gilt with five raised bands. Pastel marbled endpapers. The edges of the covers are only mildly rubbed due to ordinary shelf wear, and the corners are just barely bumped. Very thin white streak, about 1" long, at head of volume I's spine. Bookplate inside both volumes' front covers. Pencil marks in margins of a few pages in both volumes, and all pages are foxed. Binding secure. Overall, a very attractive and rare set in used but still nicely presentable condition. Item #167499
