Written entirely in French. A collection of Catholic sermons for Lent by Jean Baptiste Massillon, the 18th-century Bishop of Clermont and Advent preacher Versailles (in 1699). His sermons were popular for their moral, rather than dogmatic, themes. The spine and panel edges feature gilt decorations.
