ORIGINAL FABRIC SWATCH FROM THE 1903 KITTY HAWK WRIGHT FLYER - CERTIFIED BY IVONETTE WRIGHT MILLER

A piece of the original fabric of the airplane used in the fabled First Flight of the Wright Brothers! Orville and Wilbur Wright's first plane, the 1903 Kitty Hawk Flyer, was badly damaged in the 1913 Dayton Flood and Orville replaced the original fabric. He salvaged some of it and, after his death, it went to his niece Ivonette Wright Miller and her husband Harold S. Miller (the executor of the estate). The Wright family cut the fabric into small swatches which were given to various people. This fabric swatch offered here measures 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches and is mounted onto a certificate of authenticity signed by Ivonette Wright Miller and individually made out to Eleanor Reist.

Also framed with the swatch is a handwritten note to Reist signed by Ivonette along with a reproduction of a newspaper photo of the Millers. The entire framed grouping measures just under 22 x 19 inches. Fine condition.

A rare opportunity to own one of the great aviation relics of human history! Item #1304862
