ORIGINAL HANDWRITTEN AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED BY PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR

A nicely framed group of material relating to the first Black American poet to win a national reputation. Includes a seven-line letter by Dunbar addressed to "My Dear Major" and asking him to kindly accept the enclosed book, presumably one of his own works. The letter is undated; however, Dunbar's address is that of his Washington DC townhouse where he only lived from 1897-1900. Also included is a reproduction of a photograph of Dunbar and a brief biography of him.
