Commonly known as the Griswold Edition, this set includes a memoir by Rufus Wilmot Griswold, essays on Poe by N.P. Willis and James Russell Lowell, and a one-page forward by Poe's mother-in-law, Maria Clemm. This edition was first published by Redfield between 1850-1856. This 1859 edition is the first reprint edition and is complete in four volumes. All early editions of the Griswold set are scarce.
